Bitcoin point of sale

A bitcoin point of sale on the phone in your pocket.

BTCPay Server comes with its own Point of Sale app. It runs in a web browser, so a phone or tablet you already own becomes the till: a simple keypad, or a product list with a cart, tips and discounts. It comes with every Myntli store. We don’t sell terminals and we don’t build the till for you. You set it up yourself in a few minutes, and the payments go straight to your wallet.

It takes bitcoin, not cards. Keep your card terminal for everything else.

What it does

BTCPay’s Point of Sale app

A keypad

Type the amount and show the QR code. The light view is nothing but a keypad.

Or a product list

List what you sell, with prices and stock, and let staff build a basket in the cart.

Tips, discounts and tax

Switch on tips, let staff enter a discount in percent, and set a default tax rate.

Any phone or tablet

It runs in the browser. Add it to the home screen and it opens like an app.

Paid to your wallet

Each sale is a BTCPay invoice built from your public key, so the coins land in your own wallet.

No cut of the sale

No percentage and no terminal rental. A month on Myntli costs $29, whether you take ten sales or ten thousand.

Set it up yourself

From store to till in five steps

  1. In your BTCPay store, open Plugins, then Point of Sale, and choose Create.
  2. Pick the style: a keypad, or a product list with a cart.
  3. Add your products, and switch on tips, discounts or tax if you want them.
  4. Save, then View, and open the page on the phone or tablet at the counter.
  5. Add it to the home screen, so it opens like an app.

Before you open the till

What it isn’t

No terminal from us

Use a phone or tablet you already have. We don’t make hardware, and we don’t set the till up for you.

Bitcoin, not cards

Customers pay from their own bitcoin wallet. Card payments still need your usual terminal.

Confirmations take time

An on-chain payment shows up within seconds but takes longer to confirm. BTCPay lets you choose how many confirmations to wait for.

Refunds are a new payment

Bitcoin payments are final. To give money back, you send a new payment to the customer.
